Freedom Blog
The Freedom Blog is an experiment that I have just set up. The premise is to see whether people will take the opportunity to post entries on a blog whose management and authorship is entirely subject to change. Essentially anyone who happens to visit the blog and find the username and password on the ‘about’ page can login and alter/post what they like. There are no rules whatsoever.
One of the questions the experiement is based on is to what extent is blogging about the asertion of individualism? And to what extent have we got used to the idea of claiming part of the intangible Internet webspace as our own?
Also implied in the thought process is the issue of split authorship, where is the locus of power? Then there are broader interest such as group dynamics, failure vs success of an organic process and whether the same social rules of sharing and equality amongst peers apply to the internet.
The other major factor in this experiment is simply the pleasure of trying something different (although please let me know if this has been done somewhere else, chances are that it has but that’s ok).
So without further ado I give you…
